A baking party to support Montreal's urban indigenous community

  • Provigo Angus 2925, rue Rachel E. Montréal H1W 3Z8 Canada (map)

Yes, sugar can be good for you.

Our 3rd BAKE + do good holiday cooking party was a hit: 35 Montrealers aged 3 and up baked cookies for Native Montreal which were enjoyed the very next day at their own holiday party. And thanks to donations and ticket sales, our baking party raised $725.91 for the health, cultural strength and success of indigenous families and individuals living in Montreal. This is a small but sweet way to support reconciliation: by knowing one another and doing things together. Director Philippe Tsaronsere Meilleur gave a beautiful talk, and taught us some Mohawk words - so Niá:wen (thank you) to everyone who baked and supported our 16th FUNraiser!

We chose Native Montreal because for every negative story we read about an indigenous person in the media there are many more who work hard to overcome racism and a legacy of pain & abuse to be good parents, friends, workers, lovers. Native Montreal is a powerful resource based in that reality, and we are honoured to support them. Thank you for the images Charles Briand!
